Congrats to Shiloh and Thomas on their new lovely daughter! I didn't realize Emery was due so soon. pictures? yea, nay?
Sorry I'm emailing so late! we decided to host new sisters coming in. it was a lot of fun. I lucked out and didn't get any of the heart broken sobbing parents. Mother please please please please give me the addresses of my family members. like my brothers? so I can mail them things. The only crazy thing that happened this week was that I nearly fainted. fun times. we had to get the second Japanese encephalitis shot, and a flu shot, and I was standing in line and I was like man I don't feel good, then I got the shot and I was going to pay for it, and the world started going fuzzy so I made a b-line for a chair. a nice old man got me some chocolate milk, and some cold water bottles for my face. my companions informed me I was white as a sheet. I'm not sick don't know why it happened. oh well.
We had an excellent speaker in the devotional Tuesday. he spoke about becoming a missionary and the process and I feel a lot better, because I feel like I know how to become a better missionary. I have come to the conclusion three things are necessary, not just for missionaries, but anyone that wants to become a disciple of Christ: repentance, charity, and obedience. The word for repentance in Thai is klapcay. it means return heart. repentance is turning from anything we are doing and focusing on the savior. and not just the big things either. I am going to use it to develop Christ-like attributes, because without putting my heart into this mission I will get nothing out of it, and I will miss opportunities to teach. And I don't want that. I want to teach every person I possibly can right off the bat, horrible Thai and all. Sorry for the sermon, but this is something that really helped me, and I wanted to share it. our schedule changes day to day, but the average day is wake up at 6;30, study. eat at 7;30, study. do tall( a language thing), work out aka play 4 square, then have lunch. then class we either teach an investigator first hour, or we study, then 2 hours of class. then language study, then class again - same deal. study, supper study get ready for bed. bed at 10;30. I swear they have a machine that slows the clocks down during the day, and speeds it up at night. ummmmmm so yeah.
Here have some pictures. The Elders thought it was funny to sneak spoons into pockets in the cafeteria, so we put them in the elders water bottle hehehe. so we told one of our teachers, (brother Thrap) that he should give us weather reports because there has been so much rain the past couple days, but he said he couldn't and he didn't have a smart phone, so sister Peterson gave him that sticky note that looks like an i-phone on a day it rained so hard they told us not to go outside. it was hilariousness. also I think I sent you elder Sugihara and elder Batey in their cleaning attire. they're pretty amusing. more map pics just cause, and then I sent you a pic of my favorite pic in the MTC. that's all I got this week I love you sooooooo much and your letters are awesome!
love,
Sister Barber
