Dear Family,
I will be skyping at 9 in the morning Christmas day. That is all in my time. I did not transfer, but my companion did ): I have a new one (big surprise there) and she is awesome. Her name is Sister Stack. We had a baptism for sister A. She is so awesome. She was my first investigator that I taught all the way through! And her friend Yo went to her baptism and afterwards asked when she could get baptized. Oh, we actually hate it when people ask us that because it happens so often. NOT please learn with us!
I will send pics of her baptism. Sister Stack has only been in Thailand for 5 months. So here's our new district: me 2 months, Sister Stack 5 months, Elder Gilley- 22 months, Elder Arne, 5 days. Needless to say we are the newly come and nearly done district.
We had a Christmas parishy thing today with President Senior where we talked about Christmas traditions and he tied it all beautifully into setting traditions for the mission of lots of baptisms. We REALLY want to have a temple in Thailand, and we can! My companion and I walked into big C (the Thai equivalent of Walmart) ,I don't know why we're not allowed to hand things out in there, and this man asks us "Are you Mormon?" in English. and we were like "yeah" no one knows what Mormons are in Thailand and this man was 100% Thai. He gave us his number, and later called us and asked if we could teach him about what we believe. There really are miracles happening in Thailand - I could go on and on.
We have a goal to have 200 baptisms throughout the entire mission in January. That is crazy, but it can happen. We would need 3 baptisms in the month of January, my companion and I, and the Elders as well. There's a part of me that is worried that a big push for baptisms will only have a bunch of less actives, but then I see people like A that love God and never want to fall away, and I remember the word of the prophets that the Lord IS hastening his work, and most importantly, I have felt the spirit tell me that this goal, 200 baptisms is possible. I'm so excited. I want to do my part to help.
Wel,l I talked alot about our mission today. Sorry about that. but I love you all and it sounds like you are all having a fabulous Christmas. I love you all. And I get only 1 hour to talk with y'all and I will skype okay? okay.
Love,
sister Kenny Barber
