A new companion!
That's right folks, I have a new companion. So there is a mini transfer when the Thai missionaries come in, and I lost my companion. My new companion is sister Du Plessi. No, she does not speak French, but she did use to speak German and Afrikaans. Yes, that is a language and I'm not talking about Ebonics either. Her father is from South Africa. She is super nice, and super weirded out that she's teaching in English. I can totally understand. It's so strange for a while. We had a crazy week. So many people came to church this week. 8 investigators! Now we need to translate that into 8 investigators. -_- I seem to have the exact opposite problems I use to have in Bangkhea. We had a bunch of investigators that never came to church, and here we have a bunch of people that never meet with us, but come to church. It really feels like I'm in a new mission.
On Sunday we had some major craziness happen. One of our investigators that couldn't get baptized for visa reasons got arrested. We were supper worried because he doesn't have money to get out of jail, and he doesn't have money to go back home, and so he would just have stayed in the jail until kingdom come. So my companion and I prayed and I have said many a prayer in my life, but that was a sincere, from the heart: 'Father, I have no idea what to do. Help the police that they will let him go.' Our investigator called about 30 minuets after, they let him out. That doesn't happen in Thailand. It was a miracle. He still has to figure out how to get a job, or get home, but it was so incredible.
Also I already told you how incredible the Pakistani people are that are here in Thailand. they give up everything and come here. Not just a few of them, but hundreds, thousands. They fear God more than man. It is so obvious, and so inspiring.
Yeah so most of this week was taken up by us switching companions, calling people to ask them if they wanted to learn more about Jesus Christ, and walking. Stewart our Scottish friend is still planing on getting baptized on the 30th of March. Adventure, got confirmed. It was a good week.
CULTURE FACT: so many Thai people grow out their pinky nail on their right hand. like nasty long. and they do it for luck. hmmm. I many not embrace that tradition.
Spiritual lesson of the week: (I can't say it better, so I'll leave you with this poem.)
