Dear fam and people I like,
this week had a lot of ups and downs. but I feel like that is true of all weeks on the mission. This week we had a grand total of zero investigators at church. grr. but! The elders had a lot, and we had two less active people come even though we didn't visit them this week, and sister A came even though we thought she wouldn't be able to, and we had a baptism! Sister yaw got baptized! After waiting 2 weeks after the baptism interview, and she gave the most awesome testimony. She said " I don't know if everything is true 100%, but I believe my testimony will grow." She also told about how she use to be Buddhist, and then she got disillusioned with the Buddhist religion, and decided she wanted to find the church that was true. And that was when her friend invited her to our church. It was so awesome.
But it was sad that no one came to church. we knew meow and chew ( those actually are their names) probably couldn't make it, but we were so sure Annie and our new investigator Aam would make it. But no. Annie slept in, and Aam said she hadn't showered yet. It's hard, because if they don't come to church they can't get baptized. Even if they have a testimony, even if they want to, you can't. Grrr.
Last week I forgot to tell you, but it was children day here, and we went and ate with a RC who helps us do EVERYTHING sister ploy. Afterward we went Dan Jonesing (inviting) around her neighbor hood and everyone was like "wow white people." People asked to take pictures, they gave us food for free, they also told us there was a Christian family near there and we went and visited them. They are not Mormon, but we shall see. they go to a church waaaay far away. they have to travel like 4 hours there and 4 back. and our church is like 10 minuets away. so we'll see if they ever come. so far nothing has happened.
The elders had a baptism this last Sunday, and they got confirmed this week. his name is brother First. he is so strong. He has invited like all of his friends to learn with the elders. and one of them his whole family is learning now. It's so incredible.
This next week we are hoping, and praying that meow and chew will want to be baptized. not just because we have a goal for 2 baptisms this month, but I feel like this is their time. God has prepared them already, why wait. so we'll see how that works out.
Woof! I forgot my culture lesson! there is a 7/11 at almost every street corner. is that an exaggeration? No. I once saw two 7/11's side by side. No joke. They love it here, and I have to say, their food is pretty good.
Much love,
Sister Barber
